What we believe

Most “smart” tech is loud, complicated, and built for early adopters. We pick the products that work for everyone else — the ones your parents would actually use, the ones that disappear into the background, the ones that earn their place in your home.

Making AI Part of Your Life

An editor’s note

Why this store exists.

We’re in the strangest moment in consumer technology in 30 years. Robots that used to live in factories now mow lawns, feed cats, and read books to children. AI that used to live in research labs now drafts emails, tracks groceries, and reminds your mother to take her pills.

It’s also the most confusing moment in 30 years. The category is full of bad products, hype-driven reviews, and stores that will sell you anything as long as you click “Add to Cart” first.

Empowered At Home is the opposite. We curate the product, we explain it in plain English, and we say no to the things we wouldn’t put in our own homes. That’s the entire business.

— Alan Gooding, founder
